Read it...its solid and makes some good point.

I would like to extend his arguments, however, to conservatives, especially in the now and present race for the presidency. Liberals are not the only ones that seem to be lacking in ideology. The current race for the GOP ticket seems to greatly lack its own ideology. The front two runners are a mormon and a pro-choice candidate. I have already read many arguments for Christians supporting both. The argument for supporting a mormon president is that we are not voting for pastor but rather the president of the country. Read Olasky's comments in one his last articles (sorry for the vagueness on that one) in which he wonders aloud whether some of Romney's flip-flop is due to his mormonism. The argument for support of the pro-choice (and I shudder at this logic) is that voting for Giuliani will decrease the number of abortions by 100,000 compared to the number of abortions if Clinton were elected. Yes, each of those 100,000 lives are one more life saved, but listen to the argument. We are rationalizing ourselves to choose truly the "lesser of two evils." Where are the ideologies we once held? Where is the rationale to vote for someone with principle, someone that will bring change and match the ideologies as presented by our founding fathers?

With that I present Ron Paul. Many will not support him because there is no chance he will be voted in. Many do not want to throw away their vote. But whatever happened to us being a people of principle? Maybe I'm just not old enough yet to lose some of my ideology...maybe my experience in this world hasn't been chiseled away enough to realize that ideologies are nice yet unrealistic in life.

I just shudder at the ideologies my children will have to give up when we compare the ones we sacrifice today. It makes you see a world much presented in V for Vendetta is more reality than we would like to admit.

Liberty is Brewing (Watch this Video)

Sorry Hobster...don't mean to take your thunder but this video is amazing. It apparently sets forth the potential scenario of how the outbreak would affect our community to the point of mass deaths, panic, and hysteria.

OK. One could argue that because of this commercial we won't see the pandemic which could happen as people will be more educated. But, I'm just a little tired of this tactic of scare the people into action. Isn't it about time we have someone put forth the facts (of course, I'm also skeptical about the medical kooks they use to give facts...but that's for another blog) and steer away from causing panic. It reminds me of the House M.D. episode in which a pandemic disease struck the airplane, affecting Dr. Cuddy herself; of course in the end it was the hysteria that caused the disease to spread (great scene...House making up the symptoms at the radio and the passengers suddenly getting them.)

Anyway, back to my question. I really don't know the answer, but just wonder why this is coming out now. Of course, the huge supply of flu shots is beginning to be distributed. What?! Now, now, the flu shots have nothing to do with the pandemic as the pandemic would be the result of a mutated disease that couldn't be cured. Sure...but what citizen would not in some way equivilate getting the vaccine to help minimize the possibility of getting the flu. Surely, if enough people are vaccinated it would help decrease the number of flu bugs to mutate. Of course, this doesn't fully hold water as the flu shots have never gone unused due to the high demand. Still, it makes me wonder as to the impeccable timing of the commercial.

Maybe I'll just never know. Maybe Big Brother (sorry for the sarcasm) really does just care about me. Maybe I just lean towards conspiracy theories a bit too much. But, really, who comes up with this stuff?

Oracle Application Server 10g

How do I love thee, let me count the ways.... I won't go into the details here but if I thought I was going to be bored tonight I was wrong. Sorry for the negative attitude, but man.......

Let's just put it into context. Their last user manager for JDeveloper (the development tool) which you would deploy onto the Application Server.....doesn't let you have 'or' in the name. It's not like I can create an error that states "Please change your user name so it does not contain 'or'" (If you can't tell....I'm just speaking of the two letters - not with quotes). This is what they call a production version to be deployed on our live servers!!

If you want an app server that is stable, try something else. What an amazing time to gather together and enjoy the fellowship as we work diligently in hope for freedom.

The most amazing part of the day however was when the gal hosting the event said to Aurora (remember: she is 3) how wonderful it was for us to come. Aurora replied, "Yes, it is so wonderful to be with family. Families need to stay together...our brothers and sisters together." We have been trying to teach our children about the body of Christ and how we worship and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Small things like Aurora's comment today help me see that maybe things stick more than I generally think.

Oh yes, if you have a chance...Sierra Nevada Stout comes highly recommended. A good buddy of mine asked why this time would be different compared to the times I've said this over the last 12 years I've known him.

Where have I been? What have I done? The scary thing is that its nothing much to blog about. I've been caught up in that little thing called life. Thought I better throw out a quick post however and mention a couple of things going on for us.

Started studying for the Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) exam. All technical exams are tough but this is supposed to be one of the more difficult. Lovely. As if I had nothing else to do.

Applied to graduate school. What this really amounted to was studying for the GRE. Some might say, "But doesn't that test your comprehensive knowledge?" Yep. But its nice to get a few extra points to make sure you can actually meet the minimum requirements of the school.

Reading. Yes, I finally have taken back my hobby. I'm mainly catching up on an old reading list but am attempting to enjoy an hour a day plus the Sabbaths are my delight!

Premiers. YES!! The Office has been ok this year (last nights show I felt it was back to classical Office) and Scrubs premiered the first show of its last season last night. I want to catch back up with House and 30 Rock but maybe one day. And that's the sum of my TV watching minus the occasional Still Standing that I've missed or something else that catches my attention.

Trying to get started helping with promoting Ron Paul for 2008. Oh yeah, vote for him in your primaries and visit his website here.

Catching up with the family. Yes, its been nice to spend time with the family and actually not have to do the 2-minute sound bites. Great stuff.

Anyway, that's enough for now. I will continue to keep you posted on my exciting life. BTW, did I hear someone say the World Series is going on right now?! Go SOX! (sorry you Yankee's fans).

A sad day

Probably one of the reason's I'm a sci-fi and fantasy fan. That is the day my life calms down to a dull, dreary 45-50 hrs/wk and that's only work. Add on top of that application for graduate school and preparing for the Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP). Oh well, maybe one day life will calm down. To those of you that know me...how long have I asked that question?

On another quick note, my local news is reporting Utah ACT scores are above the national average at a staggering 21.7 average (national average: 21.2). The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) reported homeschoolers had an average of 22.4. Go homeschoolers!!!

The local news was trying to justify why vouchers should be voted down. Argument: Our public schools are better than normal thus vouchers aren't needed. Well, currently I am against vouchers because I don't want to see the government attempt to regulate private schools (or homeschoolers if they were ever included in the voucher program) because they received federal funds for their school. However, it really upsets me that I'm on the same side of the public school teachers.

Back to work!!

Happy B-Day Son!!

It's been a year (or at least close) since the miracle of my boy's arrival. We cannot be happier as God has truly blessed us this past year. He is certainly (as sure as his sisters have demonstrated as well) a "little viper in covenant diaper's" as Jonathon Edwards once wrote of covenant children, but he is one great kid. We cannot be thankful enough and thank God for our lil' quiver.

My family... me (chowmein), my wife (TBD - name...not person), my oldest (Aurora), my second oldest (Cinde - short for Cinderella), and our b-day boy (Dogg) - names changed to protect the not-so-innocent.

Start the posts!

It's time to start my blog. The posts may be short but at least there will be something out there to keep friends and family up-to-date.

We just started homeschooling our oldest and she's having a blast. It's great to have your child beg to do their schoolwork. I know, I know, I should relish this as it might be one of the few times in her life that she does.

A nice quote to start off from a great Southern Presbyterian:

The education of children for God is the most important business done on earth. It is the one business for which the earth exists. To it all politics, all war, all literature, all money-making, ought to be subordinated; and every parent especially ought to feel, every hour of the day, that, next to making his own calling and election sure, this is the end for which he is kept alive by God--this is his task on earth.

--R.L.
